We purchased this lawnmower 1 month ago and have used it every weekend since for both our front and back yards (typical-sized yards, nothing too difficult, a few slight hills). It has worked great! I even had to mow last week when the grass was still damp from a rain and it cut well. You quickly get used to using the cord, it's like vacuuming the lawn. I actually do some vacuum-type moves (back and forth) around trees and borders, and it works great - so much easier to maneuver than my old gas mower.
I love that I can just go grab this out of the shed and mow - no checking of gas or oil, having to go get supplies, etc. When I find 15 minutes in my day to run out and mow, this mower is convenient to have at the ready.
My only complaint is that the bag doesn't catch everything, so even if I don't want it to be mulching onto my lawn, I still get clumps or rows of cut grass on the lawn. And it makes a mess when you take the bag off to empty it.
Overall, I would buy this mower again.
Do spray blades with Pam before 1st use, so it's easier to clean.

I bought this mower a month ago and I am quite pleased with its performance. It is much lighter and easier to handle than my previous mower, a Honda gas-powered mower which is very heavy. The mulching feature works well and I no longer have to bag the clippings to be picked up and taken to a landfill. Part of the learning curve is to learn to deal with the extension cord and keeping the cord out of the way when mowing.

One reviewer had mentioned that the extension cords are three conductor cables with one conductor for grounding and that she had to buy a two prong adapter to plug the extension cord to the mower. While the plug for the extension cord is a tight-fit for the receptacle on the mover, there is no problem getting the cord seated and connected without any need for an adapter.

One of the tips that I picked up from a previous reviewer turned out to be very helpful. The review recommended spraying the bottom of the mower with a non-stick cooking spray. The grass clippings that stick to the mower are minimized and clean off easily. The one thing that I found to facilitate cleaning the bottom of the mower after the mowing is finished is to spray the bottom with aerosol bug & tar remover intended for cleaning the finish of automobiles. With the bug & tar remover, a couple of sheets of paper towel are sufficient to wipe the grass and cooking spray residue from the bottom of the mower.

I've loved my Black and Decker mower since they day it arrived. I purchased it with the 14 gauge Coleman cord Amazon recommends as an accessory. Unfortunately, as Black and Decker have now informed me, I've done serious damage to my mower because it requires a 12 gauge cord! If you purchase one of these fine mowers, make sure that you purchase the 12 gauge cord and not the one that Amazon recommends.

I purchased the Black & Decker MM875 Lawn Hog back in November 2008 and I thought maybe I should have purchased a battery operated unit Like the "green" one.
I was getting a little tired of hassling the 100 ft. cord as my property has 3200 square feet of lawn lined with Colorado river rock and trees. We have Marathon grass and it is quite robust (as lawn grass goes) and I thought I could do it better, with less hassle and quicker with the battery powered mower offered by another company.
So after reading the literature and reviews online I purchased the N----n along with all the accessories including the extra battery.
After using the battery powered unit for a month it started to fail with shorting out and running at a very low RPM or not at all.
I checked all the things needed to see if it was something I was doing and it turned out to be a problem with the circuit board. I could get 1 and 3/4 mows out of both batteries before I had to wait 2-4 days for the batteries to charge. The second Battery didn't come close to charging as well as the original one. It would get extremely hot to the point where I couldn't use it safely.
After spending $685.00 for everything and then being charged another $60 to ship it back even with it's 6 month no hassle return guarantee and 4 year warranty, needless to say I was very disappointed. That is a total of $127.00 I'm out for the shipping alone that I will not be refunded. ????
I got out my Black and Decker MM875 Lawn Hog and I was amazed at how well it performed.
Since using it regularly I have a routine down where the cord doesn't foul me up.
I love this mower! At $219 I could of bought 3.4 of these things and started a lawn route! Lol!

I have always wanted to try an electric mower. After we recently purchased our new home, I decided to try the corded Black & Decker Electric Lawn Mower (MM875). Our lot is on the large size which is why I did not purchase their cordless model. Our new sod had just been put in and after the required 3-4 week waiting period, it was ready to be mowed. Our new home has 4 very conveniently located electric outlets. This mower had plenty of power to cut the new thick grass. It took a while to get used to the cord but I have no problems with it now.

I am very happy with my purchase. There is no more gas and oil to deal with. And it starts right up every time with no cords to pull. I use the mulcher exclusively and the clippings are so fine that they disappear right into the lawn. Before I used it for the first time, I followed some advice that I read on these reviews about spraying the blade and undercarriage with PAM. What a great idea - it worked. Cleanups are a breeze when I am done.

I grew up with gasoline engine powered lawn mowers but now would never go back. Even on my larger than average lot, I have no problems with this mower. I also got a great deal on this mower through Amazon. I just watched the price for a while and when it dropped one day to $203, I ordered it. It was on my doorstep within 1 week. 5 STARS for this item as far as I am concerned.

I bought this mower for use on what I would consider as the "largest yard you would want to tackle with an electric mower" my lot is (140 ft x 100 ft).

The Good

- Virtually maintenance free (aside from keeping the deck clean)
- Quiet
- Does a good job if you are tackling a light mowing chore

The Bad

- Broke after 1 year of use (luckily still under warranty now I'm going back to a gas mower)
- Not as powerful as I'd hoped (I knew it wouldn't be as strong as a gas machine but it still seemed weak)
- Blade dulls abnormally fast

Other than the blade and durability issue I liked the mower. I suppose if you have a small lot and can use a short thick cord, and don't intend to use it for medium-heavy mowing jobs, this mower may work for you. Otherwise buy a stronger gas powered mower.

Loved this mower when it arrived, and it worked beautifully. I loved not needing gas, it was quiet when running and very easy to push.

One week after its arrival, I ran over a rock that was half buried in tall grass. The rock forced the blade into the plastic under carriage, slicing a chunk of plastic loose from the bottom and binding the blade. The mower was left inoperable. Black and Decker offered to repair the problem at no charge. Their fix consisted of applying glue to the sliced plastic part so it wouldn't hang down and catch on the blade. Not pretty, but it worked.

Today, I hit another rock. Same thing happened in a different place on the under carriage, and again, the mower is inoperable. I haven't decided what to do yet.

Bottom line... mowers DO occasionally hit rocks. It happens, no matter how careful you are. I can accept damage to the mower blade, but destruction of the mower itself should not be so easily accomplished.

As far as I can tell, all electric mowers are built with plastic mowing decks, which I think is a big mistake. It does make them lighter, which is great, but there's a lot of potential for high speed impacts in this area, and plastic isn't nearly as durable as metal.

It does its job well.
I have been using it for almost 2 years.
Never has any problem.
Just that I need a long extension cord to go with it.
A little bit inconvenient, but I am fine with it.

Arrived with one broken locking knob for the adjustable handle. Was an easy fix with epoxy.
It is a good feeling to not have to keep pulling a rope to get the mower started. No more smelly gasoline to bother with. Just plug it in, squeeze the on switch and go. Very easy one hand height adjustment. All four wheels at the same time. It is light weight and does not put wheel ruts in the lawn.

I have used this mower for 5 years. It is my first B&D electric mower and I am very pleased with its performance, reliability, and maintenance-free operation. I sharpened the blade last year and that is the only maintenance that it has ever needed other than wiping the grass off the blade and underside every time after mowing. The 12amp motor provides more than enough power. At 52lbs, this mower is light enough for me to get it up and down the fours steps from my basement (I hoist the handle on top of my shoulder to carry it). As long as all grass in your yard is within 100 feet of a power outlet then I highly recommend this mower.
